A Special Opening: Taiping's New Greenlane Store Yesterday I attended the opening of Auckland's largest Chinese-Asian supermarket, located in Greenlane. The Managing Director, Michael Chan, is a grandson of the wellknown early Chinese polltax payer Mr William Sung Chong (also known as Chan Soon Chong), who first arrived in New Zealand in 1919. Today, Taiping operates around 10 to 11 stores across the country. Michael’s father (Peter Chan(PETER CHAN (陈靄筠) DOB 1930- ACCC(屋仑华侨会所) chair1987-93 , and ACCC chair 1995-2002 MNZM))founded the company back in the 1980s, and the very first Taiping store was opened on Hobson Street in Auckland CBD. Michael is perhaps one of the most successful descendants of Mr William Sung Chong, continuing his family’s legacy in New Zealand’s Chinese community. 该公司的董事总经理Michael Chan(陈先生),是早期华人移民William Sung Chong(又名Chan Soon Chong)的孙子。 https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?vanity=ling.john.9400&set=a.2278009986303959
